HOW IT STARTED?
MerchanDhi Cakes and Pastries is an online cake and pastry business based in Iligan City. It was founded back August in 2020 by a 19-year old BSBA Marketing Management student of MSU-IIT, Miss Dhialica D. Dagondon. She was inspired by her mother who is a former pastry chef, however, the business owner herself is a self-taught baker. She started baking as a hobby during the quarantine lockdown due to the Covid19 pandemic. Little did she realize that this quarantine hobby would unfold into an adventure to the baking industry. She started the cake business on a home-based setup where she bakes its products on their personal home kitchen situated in Merila 1, C3 road, Iligan City.
HOW'S IT GOING?
As of December 2021, MerchanDhi has sold more than 500 cake orders, and more than a thousand of pastries. Our business continues to prosper in our Instagram social media platform as we bake the cakes and pastries for the people of Iligan City.
We believe in the value of homemade, handcrafted quality baked goods. Not only do they warm the home, but our products will definitely sweetness your life. We value locally grown, fresh ingredients made into traditional recipes that taste amazing. We like to keep it simple and emphasize flavor over flash. .
THE FIRST CAKE EVER
MerchanDhi's first-ever attempt at cake baking and decorating. As the famous quote says, "There's always a first time for everything". Its very first baking experience did not turn very fancy as expected, it was just the classic not-so-moist Chocolate Cake, coated with unsweetened chocolate ganache and topped with very colorful-sprinkled dragees. And hey! Just take a look at those funny letters, those are yellow pre-made sweet gum paste on the side spelled "ANGEL" specially made for our very first client.
Who would have thought that this cake would be just the beginning of a lifelong journey for MerchanDhi Iligan? From a single chocolate cake and now being able to cater to a greater number of classic cakes, to customized cakes, and pastries across the city of Ililgan. It's just mesmerizing how embarking on a new hobby would turn out so fine for a baking business.
